Other Applications

Smart Release® technology focuses on providing safe, simple and reliable ways to deliver proven chemistries for water treatment. Although we started in the cooling tower market, Smart Release® is suitable for a wide range of additional and customized applications.

AC Pre-Cooling
Many new air conditioning technologies are currently on the market that are designed to improve residential air conditioning efficiencies. These technologies utilize water in some way to help reject the heat to the atmosphere thus improving the efficiency of the unit. The challenge with these applications surrounds properly treating the water to control mineral scale fouling and long term corrosion damage. Smart Release® Technology has a complete product line specifically designed for AC Pre-Cooling applications to help control scale and corrosion so the efficiency can be gained with minimal risk to the AC equipment. These Smart Release® products consist of time release industrial scale and corrosion inhibitors used in typical industrial cooling applications, yet designed for small residential and commercial applications.

Critical Closed Loops
Critical Closed Loops (sometimes referred to as Process Cooling Water Systems) are often used to cool critical heat exchangers and equipment devices used in manufacturing, high stress engines, and medical device systems. These critical closed loops, just as the name implies, are critical to the operation and ongoing longevity of the equipment it is used to cool. Without proper scale, corrosion, and fouling control these systems may fail thus resulting in millions of dollars in damage as well as costly unscheduled downtime. To address this industry need, Smart Release® Technology has developed a product line solely dedicated to treating these small, but highly critical systems. When Reliability is paramount and Simplicity and Safety are important, turn to Smart Release® Technology for a unique solution.

Air Washer (Swamp Cooler) Systems
Air Washer Systems have been in use for many years in the sun belt region of the U.S. In these regions, air washer systems (sometimes referred to as swamp coolers) are used for a variety of applications. In manufacturing, air washers are used as an economical way to cool air used for space cooling. In some applications, air washers are used to “pre-cool” air used for commercial and industrial comfort cooling equipment. Regardless of the application, when there is water and evaporation involved in a cooling process some form of water treatment is required. The problems associated with water in these processes are scale, corrosion, microbiological contamination, and general fouling. Smart Release® Technology has comprehensive programs designed to treat small residential air washer systems up to large industrial air washer systems.

The Smart Release® Technology used to treat Air Washers utilizes the same industrial chemical compounds that are used to treat industrial cooling tower systems, fluid coolers, and evaporative condensers. High stress inhibitors such as organic phosphonate blends, co-polymer and ter-polymer dispersants, and specific corrosion inhibitors are blended together and released utilizing a patented time release polymer coating applied to the outside of the solid tablet. These tablets are packaged in the form of a “flow through” style inline filter housing for simplicity of application. All the product needs is water in, water out, and consistent water flow when systems are in operation. In line filter/scale and corrosion inhibitor products are designed to consistently release product during equipment operation over a 3 month or 6 month time period depending on the application.

Air Washer Directions of Use
The Smart Release® Technology In Line filter should be installed on the makeup line going into the cooling system. As water flows through the filter, scale and corrosion inhibitors will consistently and slowly release into the system over the designated timeframe. One 12" filter will treat up to 12,000 gallons of water over a 6 month time period. One 6" filter will treat up to 6,000 gallons over a 3 month time period. Test kits are available to test the water thus ensuring adequate product is being fed to protect the system. At the end of the useful time period, the filter should be removed, discarded, and replaced with a new in line filter cartridge.
